Kat Von D- Beethoven

I'm so happy that I got my palettes today!!

First up is the True Romance Eyeshadow Palette - Beethoven

I have a little secret. I am not a fan of blues and purples until I have set my eyes on Kat von D eyeshadow palette in Beethoven.

What it says:

A smoky eye adds an instant air of mystery—create your own with the True Romance Eyeshadow Palette. Designed by reality television star Kat Von D especially for Sephora, this artistic spectrum of shades brings an edgy-glam creativity to your makeup. The sleek black eyeshadow palette is stenciled with silver roses and arrives packaged in a silk-screened black and silver box that is itself a work of art—and inspired by Kat's favorite tattoo.

Most of us probably didn't have any idea who is Kat Von D. I myself got no clue who she was until I googled her name. Also, what most of us don't realize is that all the Kat von D makeup and tools are actually Sephora Brand – Kat is supposedly involved in the colors & packaging design. I don’t have anything else Sephora brand, this is my first from them and Im loving it! Well, I fell at first swatch! ^_^

Another thing I love about this, is the DETAIL. On her interview she admitted that these makeup lines are her artwork, just like her tattoos, so she worked hard to make them as detailed and presentable as she could. Just check out these pictures.

First off, the packaging of these palettes is gorgeous. The palette comes in a chic tattoo-designed boxes....

Isnt it pretty?

And when you open the box,

ooh! I love how its packed

See how the box opens like a gift? A unique way of packaging isnt it? The palette is wrapped in tissue paper.

Box, paper and palette

The palette is wrapped in a dark paper that has I think with a little rose tattoo sticker. The actual palette itself is quite beautiful.
The cover is matte and yeah Im sure it does attract powders but then again its not a bother for me. Likewise, the palette is very sturdy and snaps closed well. ^_^

Isnt it amazing how much details is in her palette? It's like the palette itself is a work of art! I'm so keeping the boxes! hahahahaha!!

Now for whats inside!

Colors: Left to Right: Lucifer, Speed Blue, Razor Gray, Tequila, Sinner, Rad Purple, Leather, Gelano

Beethoven has 8 eyeshadow shades of predominantly cool tones. Half are blues and half are purples. I would have thought that green toned Ludwig would be my choice for this line but I got the Nyx Secret World in place of that. But I’m glad I went outside my comfort zone and got Beethoven because the colours are pigmented and gorgeous.

The colors do look common right? But check out Lucifer on the far left side, its so matte and dark that it blends in the palette's borders!Leather is a matte color as well. Gelano is the middle name of Kat's mom ^_^

Swatch time ^_^
Colors: Left to Right: Lucifer, Speed Blue, Razor Gray, Tequila, Sinner, Rad Purple, Leather, Gelano
Beethoven is a cooler tone palette that could just work on any skin tone.

  from Sephora website:
The Beethoven palette contains the shades:
- Lucifer (matte charcoal black)
- Speed Blue (dark metalic blue)
- Razor Gray (warm gun steel shimmer)
- Tequila (metallic cornsilk shimmer)
- Galeano (metallic medium plum shimmer)
- Sinner (metallic purple black shimmer)
- Rad Purple (matte purple black with purple glitter)
- Leather (matte dark brown)
- Two doubled-ended applicator brushes

Another look at the swatch with names watermarked!! weeeh!!!
(my friend was only able to do one editing =(  )

Texture wise, the colours are lovely. They are smooth and very very pigmented. They are so pigmented, that its better to use a brush to apply these colours because they can look a bit patchy if used with fingers. I realized this when I swatched them and applied on my lids to test.

A word of advise though, dont go for this paleete if you dont like strong colours, you will not like this palette because its easy to overdo it if you aren’t careful. Brusges are the way to go ^_^ The brushes in the palette are pathetic they do nothing but I realized they could be used for for lining

What I like:
 -  Lovely pigmented shades, vibrant and bold colors
 - smooth texture and easy to blend
 - ADORABLE packaging
 - excellent  mix of highlighter, lining base and colour shades

What I dont like:
-  unavailable locally
-some may find it expensive (PhP 2100 -including taxes and shipping, $34 in Sephora)
- easy to overdo ;)
- two double-ended mini brushes that come with it are so so

Just this for now, this are my initial thoughts on the product ^_^

YOu can get your hands on this baby through carefree shopper and she has pre-orders for Sephora products every month and low tax/shipping rates!! Dont you just love it? :D

Till here!

xoxo
